Vitamin Routine For Kids Ages 2+

As a mom of three, one of the things I’m always thinking about is how to support my kids’ health, especially when it comes to getting the right nutrients. I’m sure many of you can relate—finding a vitamin that’s both effective and clean can feel like a bit of a treasure hunt.

Tell me if you’re one of those mamas who was surprised to learn when your newborn was 8 weeks old that you were supposed to be giving them Vitamin D! (Why do the pediatricians skip this one til 8 weeks?!)

After trying a few different brands, I found myself gravitating toward Hiya vitamins, and I thought I’d share a bit about why they’ve become a part of our daily routine.

Plus, I’ll compare them to another popular option, First Day, (which we used for about 6 months) to help you make an informed choice for your own family.

Yes- full transparency- if you click any link in this you will get 20% off Hiya vitamins. You’re welcome ;) Plus I get a little commission! I know this is how the internet works, but I stick always feel icky if I think someone is making money off something but it isn’t explicit. So here’s me being explicit. <3

What I Love About Hiya Vitamins

What first caught my attention was their commitment to quality ingredients. These chewable vitamins are packed with over 15 essential nutrients designed to support immune health, energy, and overall wellness. But like… EVERY vitamin says that, right? As a parent, I love knowing that these nutrients are being absorbed without any of the added sugar or artificial preservatives often found in other kids’ vitamins.

I actually bought First Day thinking it didn’t have sugar… (oops, Emily, read the fine print girl!)

Unlike many gummy vitamins, which tend to be loaded with sugar (and a bit too much sweetness for my taste), Hiya uses organic fruit extracts like apple and pear to provide a touch of sweetness.

It's a small but important detail that makes a difference, especially for parents who want to avoid unnecessary sugars in their kids' diets…

Every parent out there whose kid BEGS for their sugary vitamin is nodding their head right now. But… They are NOT gummies! So make sure your kid will accept that.

The simplicity of Hiya also stands out—no complicated ingredient lists, just the essential vitamins in doses that are specifically tailored for kids’ growing bodies.

For example, each tablet includes vitamin D and zinc, both crucial for immune function. I appreciate that it's not just a "one-size-fits-all" formula.

The First Day Option

Like I said, we used First Day for 6 months. Much like Hiya, First Day also offers chewable vitamins for kids... and yea… arguably they are more delicious (they are more like candy let’s be real!) They pride themselves on using clean ingredients and avoiding additives. One of the main differences, though, is that First Day's formula includes more probiotics, which can be great for gut health. Thought Hiya HAS a probiotic which might be more targeted if you think your kiddo needs that!

First Day’s vitamins are lower in sugar, but still super sweet and candy-like. And who doesn’t love a gummy! They are also vegetarian which is awesome. They do include a slightly different range of vitamins and minerals—targeting more specific aspects of health like digestive and skin health.

But, personally, I found that Hiya’s nutrient profile, with its more basic yet effective combination, felt like the right fit.

Both brands emphasize quality, but Hiya’s focus on simplicity and essential nutrients aligns with my approach of keeping things streamlined and straightforward.

Eco-Friendly and Easy to Use

Another reason I’m a fan of Hiya is their eco-friendly packaging. The vitamins come in reusable glass bottles, which is a nice touch for sustainability. (First Day comes with reusable plastic bottles). As someone who values minimizing waste, this small detail matters a lot.

The chewable tablets are super easy for my kids to take—They look forward to their daily vitamins, which I know some people struggle with but my kids have always treated them like candy. Even when I gave them Bulletproof ADK! Which is a great choice for all of us- just not as comprehensive as Hiya.

A Balanced Approach

Ultimately, both Hiya and First Day offer solid choices for parents looking for clean, nutrient-packed vitamins for their kids. Hiya’s focus on simplicity and the absence of added sugars make it a standout for us.

In our family, Hiya has become a trusted daily routine, and I appreciate how it supports my kids’ growth without any unnecessary extras. AND they have the chocolate drink and Iron supplement and a bunch more cool things you can be really targeted about! But, like everything, it’s about finding the right fit for your family’s needs and preferences. It’s nice to know that there are options out there that focus on clean ingredients, good quality, and practical benefits.

What about you—have you tried Hiya or First Day vitamins? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!

Have you found one that is better?!

TELL ME.

Love,

Emily
